Gallinas Levee Upgrade Project California Environmental Quality Act Study

The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) is a statute that encourages agencies to minimize the impacts on the environment and facilitates public involvement in project planning.

In July 2019, the Zone released a draft Initial Study of the project and collected comments from residents, nonprofit groups, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Based on the analysis of impacts within the Initial Study, the Zone determined that a full Environmental Impact Report (EIR) was not necessary.

The Response to Comments with the Draft Initial Study comprise the final CEQA document and completes the CEQA process for the project.
